Hopefully you have had the house tour and are ready to take a walking tour of our neighborhood, SS14. Let me give you first a little background on Subang Jaya...our area. Subang Jaya is a residential town and is located in the District of Petaling located in the Klang Valley of the Stateof Selangalor, Malaysia. Subang Jaya’s population is approximately 1,000,000 people. We live in the neighborhood of SS14. We spend a lot of time in SS15, also...which is across a highway and has to be reached by car or walking over the cross over.
Grab your shoes and let’s go!
As we walk out our gate, this is a view down the street to the right
The local chinese high school...2 blocks away to the right
School buses pretty much look the same no matter where you live
We found out there was a park right past the school....it is a buzz of activity in the early morning....the only time the day is not tooooo hot or tooooo humid to exercise outside. There is a walking path along the permitter, with basketball court, badminton court, soccer court and a couple of playgrounds for the kiddos. The morning we visited there were about 30 men and women doing their early morning Tai Chi, then later in the morning I caught pictures of women doing an exercise/dance with flags and scarfs....a type of traditional Chinese dance, I guess.
Soccer Field
Women doing exercise with fans and scarves
See the women in the background.. I don’t know what they were doing but they were on some kind of exercise equipment
Walking path around the park
Yes, the park was filled with liter....as the whole city is...but as you can see there are park cleaners at work!
Let’s head back down the street past our house to the shop lots a block to the Left of our house.
Speed limit for the speed bumps!
Considerable amount of speed bumps between our house and the shop lots.
Back view of the shop lots as we see them walking from the house...to the left
Back view of the shop lots to the right
We go in-between these two restaurants....red on the right and blue on the left and head over to the walk over foot bridge to get to SS15 where the universities are and our ConneXion “House” is. That is where we have our Tuesday night Game/English Chat Club/Bible Study and all other activities we have during the week.
Our street runs in between the two restaurants in the top 2 pictures. Both are Chinese restaurants and are very busy at lunch and dinner. They are not much to look at but people love them! We walk over the walk over to SS15 where the colleges are located. We are responsible for 3 universities: Taylors, Inti and Metropolitan.

But as you will see from the following pictures.....there are several universities in the 2-3 block area. So when we minister to students we are ministering to students from many universities.
Just a few of the schools within a couple of block radius of the 3 main schools we are to target. One of our students is an architecture student in Alpha College and it in on the 12th floor of one of the buildings.......very talented students there but no sign out front that I could take a picture of. Where the majority of the kids hangs out at lunch is the “Asia Cafe”. It is actually an area that is outside under roof top (some of it) and there are small stalls all around it......all kinds of food......Viet Namese, Thai, Chinese, Indian, Korean, Australian, Japanese, Western, Pizza and Calzones, Sushi, fresh seafood, fresh fruit, waffles...you name it, you can probably find it there.....It is open 24 hours a day and is packed......students during the day and working crowd at night.
I know it looks like my lens on my camera are dirty but it has captured the water droplets that come from the fans that also have water spraying from them.
Or they hang out at the Starbucks and McDonalds across the street from the Asia Cafe and Inti and Metropolitan Colleges.
Down to the right of McDonalds down the shop lots on SS15 is our Connexion House. It is the 4th floor above a Presto Cleaners, a gym, and a Singing Lesson place.
Do you see it?
We are now going to head back home over the foot bridge back home to SS14
View from the foot bridge of the front of our shop lots in SS14
Another view of shop lots in SS14
Down the foot bridge to SS14
Then back down the street in-between the red restaurant and blue restaurant towards home.
Since every home in KL has a gate at the road, I thought it might be interesting to look at some of the gates on our way home.......
Here we are back at our home again! Thanks for coming along for the walk....hope you got a clearer picture of where we live and where we minister. Also, praying you will be coming for a visit to help us, encourage us or just visit with us! We don’t care which....just come!
Til next time......

Okay, as you know, any city with a Starbucks is my kind of town! I was looking at these pictures and thinking of how busy it all looks. What is the big industry there? Computers? Love all the gates and was trying to make out the kind of cars behind them!?! Cheryl
Thanks for the tour!
